Wreaths from community members will be laid starting at 10 a.m., ahead of the formal ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Veterans, cadets, first responders and dignitaries will parade from Stratford Armouries to the cenotaph for the ceremony, led by Stratford Police Pipes and Drums.

Avondale United Church Rev. Marg Smith will do the scripture reading.

Call to Remembrance will be given by Rev. Mark Wolfe of St. Andrew’s Church, and the Honour Roll will be read by Rev. R.L. Read, Royal Canadian Legion Stratford Branch 8 Padre.

Comrade Richard Boon is emcee and will announce the formal Placing of the Wreaths.

O’ Canada and God Save The King will be sung by Loreena McKennitt, former Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Residents are encouraged to attend to mark the day the First World War ended in 1918 and take part in two-minutes of silence, at 11 a.m., on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Frank Mathieson, president of the Royal Canadian Legion Stratford branch, said in a media release announcing details, that the service is a privilege and an opportunity to honour men and women, who served Canada and their sovereign so that we may have the freedom of today.

Remembrance pays tribute to uniformed members of the Canadian Armed Forces from past conflicts and those currently serving, including peacekeeping, search and rescue, humanitarian relief, and disaster relief, Mathieson said.

After the service, the public can place their own poppies on the steps of the cenotaph.

The ceremony will be broadcast on Rogers, Wightman TV and Ballinran Entertainment’s YouTube channel.
