MPP Rae says fall economic statement invests in rural Ontario

The province’s minister of finance says he has some good news when it comes Ontario’s finances.

Peter Bethlenfalvy was in legislature Wednesday, presenting the fall economic statement.

The statement serves as an update on the government’s previous spring budget.

Bethlenfalvy says a lower budget deficit came thanks to number of different factors…. including higher revenues, lower borrowing and lower interest on debt.

Bethlenvalvy adds the interest on debt, relative to revenues, is at it’s lowest numbers since the 1980s.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae says the fall economic statement invests in rural Ontario, including $5 million towards Ontario Transit Investment Fund.

That will assist unserved and underserved communities to develop, integrate, and coordinate sustainable transit services, the MPP said in a media release.

Rae says the province will continue to make necessary investments to build a better, stronger, and safer Ontario and they are working diligently to make life more affordable.
