The province’s main general assistance grant to municipalities is getting a $100 million increase over two years, with an additional $785,000 earmarked for Perth-Wellington.
Matthew Rae, Perth-Wellington MPP, said in a media release on Monday that rural municipalities can “continue building stronger and safer communities together.
The Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) will see a $50 million jump in 2025, with $550 million in funding to 390 municipalities. That increase will target small, northern and rural municipalities and help them provide critical municipal services.
Locally, North Perth will see an additional $186,900. Other municipalities getting more funding include West Perth ($97,200), Perth East ($112,600), Perth South ($39,700) and St. Marys ($36,200).
