Plenty of local events for Crime Prevention Week

It’s National Crime Prevention Week and Stratford Police have arranged an array of events that will aid in community engagement.

On Wednesday, Project 529 Bike Registry will be held at Stratford District Secondary School from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Ride your bike to school on Wednesday to register your bike and reduce the risk of it getting stolen.

On Thursday, Coffee with a Cop is at The Sunset Diner in St. Marys from 10 a.m. to noon.

On Friday, another Coffee with a Cop at the Stratford McDonalds on Ontario St. from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will also be an open house community drop-in at 45 Buckingham Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Finally, there will be an info booth at the Stratford Warriors game at 7:30 p.m.

Const. Darren Fischer, Community Resource and Media Relations Officer with Stratford Police Service, explained the importance of community engagement this week.

“If we don’t have that participation from the public, we really can’t do our jobs. We really can’t be everywhere at once, so we do need people to keep their eyes open, we do need people to engage positively with the community.”
