It’s time to help cover the city with warmth and care.
That’s the slogan for the annual Stratford Lions Club sock drive, which runs throughout the month of November.
Tracey Robinson of Stratford Lions says volunteers are asking for new socks only, collecting them at Stratford Mall on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“We try to collect as many socks as we can. Last year we got 491 pairs of socks…so we were able to distribute to seven locations in Stratford, so it’s all kept local, for all those that are in need of socks.”
Stratford Lions are also purchasing socks through monetary donations.
Robinson said a local business called Cole Mart is matching donations with the purchase of a $5 pack. Blankets for Canada is also donating 130 handmade crochet blankets.
You can also purchase socks at L&L Diehl Maintenance Services and Dave’s Diner.
“Just help out if you can, you know socks don’t last forever. The more socks we can get to help those to keep their feet warm this winter, that would be great.”
Robinson will pickup new socks. You can text her at 519-272-6201 or email the club at stratford@a15lions.org to arrange a pickup.
