A veteran educator described as a “vibrant, competent, faith-filled leader” is the new director of education at the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board.
Karen Tigani was promoted from her role as superintendent of education and will take over the director role on Feb. 24, after the retirement of current director, Chris Roehrig.
Mary Helen Van Loon, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said the Stratford resident brings an “incredible wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment to faith-based education” and she has served in various leadership roles within the school system over 25 years.
Tigani taught English and drama at the secondary school level, served as a student success teacher, and Superintendent. Tigani was a principal at St. Anne’s in Clinton and St. James in Seaforth, and a vice-principal at Stratford St. Michael.
Tigani said she is honoured to serve with a world class team of talented leaders, educators and staff at the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board, and that team will continue to ensure student-focused learning, rooted in faith and social justice.
