Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has been acclaimed as the candidate for the Conservative party in the next provincial election.
Rae, who made the announcement in front off supporters on Saturday in Monkton, said in a media release it’s an honour to be acclaimed as a candidate.
The MPP said he remains focused on ensuring the riding receives its fair share of provincial funding and that the Conservative government continues to build a better, stronger and safer rural Ontario.
PC leader Doug Ford said Rae has been instrumental in delivering results to Perth-Wellington.
The provincial government said it has invested more than $161 million in healthcare, schools, and infrastructure across Perth-Wellington since 2022.
The premier added that Rae is “committed to making life easier and more affordable for families and businesses”, and he is proud to have him on the team.
The next election is tentatively scheduled for June, 2026, four years after the previous one, however, Ford has not ruled out calling a snap election before that date.
