The Songs of Nick Drake set to perform in Stratford

You can celebrate the life and work of Nick Drake with a tribute concert Friday.

The singer/songwriter gained fame posthumously, after passing away Nov. 25, 1974.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of his life and work, musicians from near and far are performing a tribute concert, The Songs of Nick Drake.

It is the first time the concert series has returned to Stratford since 2012.
The show is produced by UK-born Toronto musician Luke Jackson, a long-time Drake fan. The tribute concert started by Jackson began it in 2004.
The show promises faithful renditions of songs with string arrangements that form the bedrock of the concert, while creative arrangements of the rest of Nick’s canon will be explored. It will feature a full band and string quartet.
Jackson spoke about touring the tribute concert back in 2012, which went across Ontario and Quebec. The shows didn’t have the turnout expected.
“The shows were all so wonderful, we just didn’t have enough people at them. Except for Stratford,” said Jackson.
The show will take place at 7 p.m. at the Copperlight.
Tickets are on available on Eventbrite.
