Live from Stratford…it’s Saturday Night

The Saturday Night Live series at The Bunker Performance Lounge and Cafe is getting a slight twist for a night to support a neighbouring business going through a difficult time.

The Bijou Benefit Night tomorrow will raise funds for the Wellington Street restaurant and culinary downtown staple, currently closed for the foreseeable future after a fire in October.

John Crawford from The Bunker asked some regular Bijou performers if they were interested in a ticketed show, just down the block on Wellington Street.

Crawford said the downtown business community feels the impact and they are eager to do what they can.

“We’ve kind of lost one of our comrades there, temporarily, so we thought that’s no good, we got to step up and help out here.”

Steph Martin, Dan Walsh, The Unheard Of – Acoustic Duo and Luke Robinson are scheduled to perform 45 minute sets, starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Artists and the venue have agreed to divert funds raised Saturday towards Bijou.

The Bunker has become a local stalwart for live music and entertainment.

Currently they are open Tuesday to Saturday and programming is all but full, packed with live music with sprinkles of live comedy and poetry.
