GOJHL weekend wrap: Warriors win twice, Lincolns on a losing streak

Stratford Warriors picked up a pair of victories over the weekend to draw even on points with league leading St. Marys Lincolns, who are now on a losing streak.

The Warriors picked up a 5-1 road win over Strathroy Rockets on Saturday.

A balanced scoring attack saw goals from Jack McGurn, Quin Kipfer, Dax Vader, Zachary Schooley and Hudson Binder, contributing a goal each.

Stratford are 16-6, in second place in the GOJHL Western Division, and level with the Lincolns (16-5) and third place Lasalle Vipers (16-6) on 32 points.

Braedon Clark had the lone goal for the Rockets (12-7-1, eighth place).

Stratford started the weekend with a 6-2 Friday night home ice win over the Sarnia Legionnaires (7-11-2-1, 10th place).

Hayden Frayne scored two goals for the Warriors, with singles from Vader, Aiden Wilson, Tyler Kelly and Cole Lewis.

Gage Brandon and Carter Fogerty scored for the Legionnaires.

Also on Friday, Jordan Visneskie scored the third period winner for the Listowel Cyclones as they edged Perth County rival St. Marys, 2-1.

Johnathan Cirone added a goal for the Cyclones (13-6-1, 5th place). Jaden Lee scored for the Lincolns (16-5).

On Sunday, Elmira Sugar Kings (12-9-3, 7th place) won at home over the Lincolns 4-2. Joey Martin had two goals for the Sugar Kings.

Baeddan Pollett and Ian Spieran had singles.

Chase MacQueen-Spence and Cohen Bidgood scored for the Lincolns.

Listowel won their Sunday night road game 5-1 against the Chatham Maroons (13-7-2, 4th place) . Jack O’Donnell, Teague Vader, Wylie Burkett, Colton Henderson and Aiden Renaud each had a goal for the Cyclones.
