A Stratford resident driving an e-bike was air lifted to hospital Thursday after getting hit by a truck in the south end of the city.
Stratford police say the collision occurred at the intersection of Downie Street and West Street/East Gore Street shortly before 6:30 p.m.
The female driver of the truck, a 39-year-old Stratford resident, had the right of way when the Chevy Silverado hit the e-bike, which was eastbound and crossing Downie Street.
The male driver of the e-bike, 59, was initially taken to Stratford General Hospital, then transported to London Health Sciences Centre by air ambulance with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said through interaction with the pick-up driver, they determined she was impaired by drugs. She was arrested, taken to Stratford Police HQ, and failed a drug recognition expert evaluation.
She is charged with impaired operation. Fourteen grams of cannabis was seized from the driver. The investigation continues and further charges are pending.
