It’s a holiday classic with a Stratford twist.
Rod Beattie’s A Christmas Carol begins Saturday at Stratford Perth Museum.
The legendary Canadian actor has transformed Dickens’ iconic Christmas tale into a one-person show, running until Dec. 23, with 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. shows.
This is an encore performance, coming off the success of last year’s presentation.
Beattie explained he has a connection to the classic story, from listening to his Father read it to him before Christmas, seeing productions of it and starring in performances of the tale.
“I thought, ‘somebody should do an hour-long version of this which is really properly paced and gets it done’, and then I thought, ‘hey I could do that.”
Beattie expressed how it changes from year-to-year, in regards to the characters and the story itself.
“I think that each time I do, each year I do it, it kind of develops a bit differently.”
Performances are fundraisers for the museum and a local charity, A Child’s Smile, an organization that ensures children from less fortunate economic situations have a great Christmas.
To purchase tickets to one of Beattie’s performances, visit the Stratford Perth Museum website or give them a call during operating hours.
