Stratford Perth Museum accepting nominations for wall of fame

Outstanding contributors to the field of agriculture could be heading to the Stratford Perth Museum’s Agriculture Wall of Fame.

The museum is seeking nominees for consideration for the 2025 entry class.

Candidates can be current or former residents of Perth County, who have made outstanding contributions to the agriculture sector.

Kelly McIntosh, general manager of the Stratford Perth Museum, explained the importance of honouring these accomplishments.

“To celebrate incredible contributors to community, to science and technology, to agriculture, even to the cultural and literary landscape is just a marvelous thing.”

It’s the 10th anniversary of the wall of fame, which has recognized contributions of 24 people from the county’s farming industry over the past decade.

Last year’s honourees included local sheep farmer Sandi Brock and Legacy Holstein’s husband and wife duo, Steve Dolson and Dr. Karen Galbraith.

More than ever, the public is recognizing the importance and contributions of the agricultural sector, according to McIntosh.

“And I think it is really important to hear those stories so that we understand what the modern farmer, what they look like, who they are, what they’ve done, what their legacy is, so we have more understanding.”

You can find the nomination form on the museum’s website.

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 28.

Physical forms can be mailed or dropped off to the museum during its business hours, or it can be submitted electronically to McIntosh at kelly@stratfordperthmusem.ca.

The new 2025 inductees for the Wall of Fame will be announced at the Stratford Rotary Club’s Rural-Urban Dinner on March 27.
