HPHA receives recognition: ‘A profound act of compassion and hope’

It’s an honour that emphasizes commitment to saving and enhancing lives through the gift of donation.

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has been recognized by Ontario Health’s Trillium Gift of Life Network for outstanding support in organ and tissue donation.

A celebration was held Friday featuring recognition of team members, as well as donors and recipients, who who shared stories of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of donation.

The healthcare alliance supported three organ donors in 2023/2024, resulting in the donation of 10 organs for transplant, ultimately saving seven lives.

Fifteen tissue donors from the healthcare alliance have helped enhance the lives of numerous individuals.

The healthcare alliance was awarded the Provincial Conversion Rate Award for a fourth time. It’s given to hospitals that achieve or exceed the conversion rate target of 63 per cent, a measure of how effectively potential organ donors are converted into actual donors.

The HPHA achieved a 100 per cent conversion rate.

Lynanne Mason, the healthcare alliance’s vice-president partnerships, transformation & chief nursing executive, said they are proud to support organ and tissue donation, calling it a profound act of compassion and hope.
