Matthew Rae, raised on a dairy farm just outside of Harriston, was elected MPP of Perth-Wellington in 2022.
He is running for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
Rae says economic factors are the leading conversation piece in his travels.
“The number one issue I hear at the doors across Perth Wellington, whether its Stratford or St. Marys, all the way to Mount Forest, is the economic uncertainty around President Trump’s threats and tariffs.”
Rae said the party has invested more than $200 million in new provincial funding for healthcare, infrastructure and education in the riding during Rae’s term.
He served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Education and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. He is also involved in several provincial standing committees.
Rae says “it is essential that we have a government that can protect Ontario, continue to rebuild our economy, and keep costs down.”
“If re-elected, I’ll continue to speaking up for obviously everyone in Perth Wellington at Queen’s Park, working to keep costs down, working with Premier Ford to protect our small businesses from Trump’s tariffs, and really again, ensuring that we’re protecting Ontario, so that we can continue to invest and build rural Ontario.”
Rae explains that “a re-elected Progressive Conservative government is the only government that would protect Ontario from Trump’s tariffs while building on the important investments it has made to support Ontario families, communities, and business.”
Election day in Ontario is Feb. 27.
