GOJHL: Spagnolo paces St. Marys to shutout win

Luca Spagnolo scored three straight goals to send St. Marys Lincolns on their way to a 7-0 road win over Komoka Kings on Saturday.

Spagnolo scored two shorthanded goals late in the first period and completed the hat trick on the power play early into the second period.

Spagnolo has 32 goals on the GOJHL season and the Lincolns are 12 points clear at the top of the Western Division standings.

Noah Vandenbrink, Blake Elzinga and Chase MacQueen-Spence also scored for St. Marys.

Colby Booth-Housego stopped 18 shots for the shutout.

St. Marys used a balanced scoring attack to beat the Strathroy Rockets 6-1 on Friday.

Kyle Morey, Cohen Bidgood, Ryder Livermore, Lincoln Moore, Spagnolo and MacQueen-Spence scored for the Warriors.

Cole Dotterman had the lone goal for the Rockets.

In Friday games, Stratford Warriors won 4-1 over the KW Siskins.

Quinn Kipfer, Kaedyn Long, Aaron Green and Jonas Schmidt scored for the Warriors.

Kayden Oliver scored the only goal for the Siskins.

Listowel Cyclones upended Elmira Sugar Kings 5-2 behind goals from Jack O’Donnell, Cam McNevan, Wylie Burkett, Colton Henderson and Jordan Visneskie.

Nolan Battler scored twice for the Sugar Kings.

St. Marys, Chatham and Stratford have clinched playoff spots.
