UPDATE: Fierce winter conditions continue Tuesday in Stratford, Perth County

Stay home and stay safe.

That’s the advice from police, city and county officials as a wintry blast continues in Stratford and Perth County.

Plows were out Tuesday morning but some municipalities pulled them back off the road by the afternoon due to difficult conditions.

Perth County announced on its website Tuesday its ‘significant weather event’ was continuing overnight and into Wednesday (Feb. 19).

The county said persistent high winds and lake-effect snow squalls are forecast to continue Tuesday into the evening and overnight.

High winds and blowing snow are causing significant drifting and near zero visibility at times, the county said.

Stratford police announced the closure of Southbound Road 119 (Highway 7), a major commuter route, during the afternoon.

The county asked that drivers use caution, allow plow operators space to work, and be aware of active snow removal operations.
