A new video project from the Town of St. Marys showcases its downtown business opportunities and successes.
The Craft Your Business’s Future in Historic St. Marys initiative showcases the town as an ideal location for entrepreneurs, with the hopes of attracting businesses to fill currently vacant commercial spaces.
Collaborating with St. Marys BIA, the project profiles local businesses who call the town home.
Kelly Deeks-Johnson, Tourism and Economic Development Manager for the town of St. Marys says the idea was born from discussions with BIA members in Fall of last year, regarding the diverse range of businesses in the downtown core combined with the goal of attracting new business.
“So there was just discussion on maybe now is the time that we start highlighting some of the really unique businesses we have downtown and trying to entice people to follow their passion or their dreams and start that business they’ve been thinking about.”
The series includes stories from successful St. Marys businesses such as Zenfire Pottery, The Flour Mill, Troyer’s Spices and The Chocolate Factory.
And Deeks-Johnson says it’s important to support local businesses, especially considering the tense political climate with the U.S.
“Supporting your local shops and exploring what is available in your own community before shopping online or elsewhere. It’s just really important to understand the impact that our small businesses have on our communities.”
The videos are available on the town’s webpage at discoverstmarys.ca/business or you can find them on Youtube.
