Conservative Matthew Rae has come out on top in the Perth-Wellington riding after polls have closed in the 2025 provincial election.
The Conservatives have won majority, sitting with 82 elected seats and will continue being the governing party of Ontario, with Doug Ford continuing as Premier.
This is the Conservative Party’s third term as majority after earning 43 per cent of the total vote.
Provincially, NDP is a distant second with 25 seats, earning 18.5 per cent of the vote, Liberals came in with 14 seats and Green with 2.
Neighbouring ridings also voted Conservative, with Ernie Hardeman winning in Oxford, Lisa Thompson in Huron-Bruce, and Mike Harris in Kitchener-Conestoga.
Matthew Rae became the MPP for the first time in 2022 and was poised to win this election as the Conservative party has held the MPP seat in the riding since 2011.
Rae expressed his gratitude to the riding’s residents.
“It’s good to have the support of the good people of Perth-Wellington again.”
Rae won by 8,205 votes, garnering a total of 20,752 votes or a 47 per cent share.
And Rae says another Conservative government will help the people of Ontario.
“Means continued investment in our rural communities, continuing to keep costs down, not raise taxes, and cut red tape and streamline approval processes.”
He also touched on the Premier’s speech about making Ontario the most competitive place to do business in the G7.
“I know it’s a very ambitious goal, and we’re going to get to work to achieve that.”
A total of 44,149 votes were cast in the riding.
