It’s a chance to explore the rich but overlooked Black heritage of Perth County.
Stratford Perth Museum will present Uncovering Identities: An Exploration of Researching Black History on March 8 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
It features HAUI (Howie) an award-winning local artist, filmmaker and historian.
HAUI is the first Black director at the Canadian Opera Company.
The program, part of the Truth, Love & Community Seminar Series, invites guests to explore Black heritage, the museum said via a media release.
The museum said HAUI will delve into his investigative journey of uncovering the forgotten stories of Black communities in Canada.
The event will include the inspiring stories about the Harrison family, who were early Black business owners in Stratford and Charley Lightfoot, one of Canada’s first Black hockey players.
HAUI artistic work, illuminating narratives of Black resistance, identity, and erasure will also feature and the artist will host a Q&A.
Tickets are $10 and available here.
