Empowering women series continues with Kate Dekok as feature speaker

The second in the Empowering Women Who Lead series is set for March 18.

A presentation of Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce and Stratford Perth Centre for Business, local business leader Kate Dekok is the featured speaker.

“What we are doing is we are getting a bunch of women together and we are talking about financial acumen and negotiation strategies,” Dekok told MyStratfordNow.

Dekok said that can be a big topic for a lot of women.

“But we are here to break it down and make it accessible and understandable for everybody.”

The theme of the second event is entitled, Negotiation Strategies For Women: Asking For What You deserve.

Joani Gerber, CEO of investStratford, will moderate. Guest panelists include Katelyn Aitcheson, Tabatha Morrison, Heather Holland and Lesley Spencer-Cooper.

Dekok will talk about lessons she has learned over her 25-year career that have helped her ask for what she wants, and helped her stay at the negotiation table.

“We are going to take the conversation, break it down into six, easy, takeaway steps that anyone can use, to go back into their world and start speaking up for what they want.”

Dekok said it’s an afternoon of encouraging one another and helping each other become the best they can be.

You can find out more information at the Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce website. The event runs from 2-5 p.m. at Grayson Mills in Stratford.
