Warriors finish up GOJHL regular season in third place

Hudson Binder had the lone goal for the Stratford Warriors as they wrapped up the regular season on Sunday with a 4-1 road loss against the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Luke Della Croce, Ian Speiran, Nate Gravelle and Joey Martin, with an empty net, scored for the Sugar Kings.

The Warriors finished the GOJHL Western Division season in third place.

On Saturday, Listowel Cyclones edged Komoka Kings 4-3.

Teague Vader, Jordan Visneskie and Colton Henderson gave the visitors a 3-0 lead and Chris O’Flaherty scored the winner in the third period for the Cyclones.

Simon McCandless, Nathaniel Adams and Everett Force scored for the Kings.

The Warriors beat the host Cyclones 4-3 in overtime on Friday night behind Quinn Kipfer’s winning marker.

Colin Slattery, Hunter Nagge and Heath Bogart added goals for the Warriors.

O’Flaherty scored twice for the Cyclones and Henderson added a goal.

Also Friday, St. Marys Lincolns wrapped up their regular season with an emphatic 8-5 win over Chatham Maroons, in a battle between the top two teams in the Western Division.

It was the Lincolns 42nd win of the 50-game season.

Ryan Hodkinson, Chase McDougall, Lincoln Moore, Blake Elzinga, Kyle Morey, Quinn Gavin-White, Jaden Lee and Owen Voortman provided balanced scoring for the Lincolns.

Ian Lachance, Brody Gillis, Dylan Richter and Connor Hunt scored for the 35-win Maroons.

The Cyclones are at Strathroy Rockets tonight, the final game of the Western Division season, with seven of eight playoff spots clinched.
