Successes and challenges: Thousands are coming for Canadian Dairy XPO

The Canadian Dairy XPO is a welcoming event during a challenging time in the industry.

Jordon Underhill, president of the American and Canadian Dairy XPOs, said it’s important to bring people together because the dairy industry is a rapidly changing and evolving sector of agriculture.

“It’s a coming together in one place over two days, to celebrate successes, talk about challenges.”

The XPO is Canada’s largest dairy showcase, with more than 350 companies from more than 30 different countries.

The XPO runs April 2-3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stratford Rotary Complex.

He says the team is preparing for it’s largest-ever crowd.

Underhill said if you were to pick a nucleus for the dairy industry, it’s right here.

“If you draw essentially an hour radius circle around Stratford and Perth County, you have the highest concentration of milk production in the entire country.”

For day one, a new highlight will be the hoof trimming corral, showcasing advancements in this field and the highly anticipated Cheesefest and Calves for a Cause sale.

The second day will celebrate youth in the dairy industry, with half of attendees at the trade show under the age of 35.

It will feature a resume blitz and square dancing.

Underhill says it’s important to embrace the next generation and the future of the dairy industry.
