James helps University of Waterloo Warriors to national championship game

Tatum James of Stratford helped lead the University of Waterloo women’s hockey team all the way to the national championship game.

At the U SPORTS national championships, the host Warriors defeated top ranked Alberta and Concordia, before losing 3-0 to a strong Bishop’s University team in the championship game.

“I feel like we played a solid game. A solid 60-minute game. Bounces were going their way. It was a learning experience.”

A 5’10” forward, James said the Warriors had a veteran squad and they return a large portion of the roster next year.

James said her family, including her parents, Rob and Laurie, are big supporters and often attend games.

James has one year of eligibility left and will complete a Masters in Recreation and Leisure while playing hockey.

In the future, she hopes to play professionally in Europe or in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), and hopes to eventually attend teacher’s college.
