Conservative MP candidate promises to ‘serve each and every person in this community’

Born and raised in Perth County, John Nater is proud of his rural roots.

Having previously served as MP for Perth-Wellington for the last 9.5 years, his promise remains the same.

“Each and every election I make one very simple pledge, and that is that I will work hard for every person in every community across Perth-Wellington. It doesn’t matter who voted for me or who didn’t vote for me, I’m here to serve each and every person,” said Nater.

Nater thinks the most important issue for the area needs to be a restoration of trust in federal government, as people have told him that “they feel their government is no longer working for them.”

He also explained that the high cost of living and the trade war are top of mind for local residents, and expressed frustration at the U.S. imposed tariffs.

“So they’re obviously completely unjustified, after decades upon decades of a strong relationship between Canada and the United States, with the U.S. President coming in and putting these tariffs, it’s absolutely unacceptable to Canada and Canadians, so we do need to retaliate.”

Nater said a Conservative government would implement counter-tariffs, to maximize the impact on the United States and minimize the impact on Canada.

Further, the party would boost the auto sector by taking the GST off the sale of new Canadian-made vehicles, as well as permanently repealing the Carbon Tax.

For Nater, an election is about the future and he poses the question: are residents better off today than they were ten years ago?

He said a Conservative Government will bring the change Canada needs to achieve a better future.

Election day in Canada is April 28.
