Entertained you will be: Stratford Concert Band all set for ‘May the 4th’ performance

The force is strong with the Stratford Concert Band as they prepare for their ‘May the 4th’ Star Wars-themed performance.

The band is bringing the film soundscapes of Star Wars and other works from famed composer John Williams to life.

Stratford Concert Band Conductor Laurence Gauci explained that when they picked concerts dates for 2025, the theme wrote itself as the date for their May concert landed on International Star Wars Day, when fans often quip, “May the 4th be with you.”

Gauci said the band has enjoyed putting the program together and is excited to welcome audiences to the iconic sounds of Star Wars.

“Most of it is quite challenging, but because we’re so familiar with it, as music that we’ve all grown up with and heard and continue to hear, it’s also a lot of fun,” said Gauci.

The concert is at Avondale United Church, starting at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students, with children aged 11 and under free.

You can get tickets from any band member or by visiting their website.
