Smile Cookie campaign wraps up, benefits hospitals in Stratford, St. Marys

The Smile Cookie campaign may be over, but smiles continue for more than hundreds of  charities and community groups, including in Perth County.

Local charities benefitting include Stratford General Hospital’s cancer and medical care  clinic while St. Marys Tim Hortons funds support the purchase of new ultrasound probe  units at St. Marys Memorial Hospital.

Smile Cookie campaign purchases in Mitchell will support the Keterson Park Pavilion and the campaign in Milverton will support a yet-to-be-determined cause.

Tim Hortons said a record-breaking $22.6 million was raised through the sale of the tasty treats this year.

Restaurant owners will present their charity partners with Smile Cookie cheques in the coming weeks. Recipients include hospitals, community care organizations, food banks and schools.

“We’re so grateful for the outpouring of support for this year’s Smile Cookie campaign from Tims guests across Canada. Thanks to your incredible generosity we topped our previous Smile Cookie record,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons.

More than $151 million has been raised since the first-ever campaign in 1996.
