‘Cultural lifeblood’: Concert choir, symphony orchestra to perform Gloria

Stratford Concert Choir, accompanied by Stratford Symphony Orchestra, will perform  Vivaldi’s Gloria as a centerpiece at Avondale United Church on May 24.

Gloria will feature a choir and orchestra along with five soloists, including Western University music student Emma Heaton.

Heaton is part of the concert choir initiative to provide opportunities to emerging vocalists.

Other performers include Ariel Harwood-Jones, who will sing the first soprano solo, Stratford’s Brooke Dufton, Ryan Nauta and baritone Nathan Dyck.

Artistic Director Stéphane Potvin, who will conduct singers and the orchestra, said the harmonious collaboration between the two will enhance the experience for the audience.

SSO board chair Nancy Stotts Jones said small arts organizations are the cultural lifeblood of a community, so it’s important that they support each other when they can.

Vivaldi Gloria begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available online at stratfordconcertchoir.org or at Blowes Stationery.
