City council hears report on possible Communications Officer for Stratford

The City of Stratford is looking at adding a Communications Officer to its staff.

A report from Redbrick Communications was presented to city council at last night’s meeting.

The report outlined the city’s need to have a single source of communication which would, among other benefits, improve interaction with citizens.

The presentation said the city’s ability to deliver timely communication could be challenged by unforeseen events, citing disasters like the Goderich tornado and the Algo Centre Mall collapse in Elliot Lake.

Councillors Kerry McManus and Paul Nickel questioned the need for a permanent Communications Officer.

The report is being sent to the Finance and Labour Relations Subcommittee for examination.
