City getting new transit office to replace aging portable unit

The city of Stratford is getting a new transit office to replace the current portable unit on Corcoran Avenue that is in poor condition and at the ‘end of its life’.

A report to city council from Transit Manager Mike Mousley recommended accepting a tender from Complete Building Systems Inc. for about $400,000.

City council voted this week to accept the tender.

Mousley told MyStratfordNow work should start soon.

“Actually planning a site meeting next week, so we can start mid-June hopefully.”

Mousley said the new facility is being built in the same spot as the old one, so staff will temporarily relocate to an administration building.

The manager’s report said construction of the new office ensures the city can continue to deliver reliable and efficient transit services.
