An adult female was pronounced dead at Stratford General Hospital after a fire at 518 Downie Street in Stratford last Friday.
Fire Chief Neil Anderson told MyStratfordNow the fire was located and limited to a second floor bedroom at the house, where they found an unresponsive female, after responding to the scene at about 11 p.m.
Anderson said the woman “succumbed to the results of the fire.”
The Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted and were on scene but an official report has not yet been received.
Anderson said the fire was not deemed suspicious in nature.
No other injuries were reported.
