The Festival City is ringing in Pride Month on Sunday with a Pride March and Pride Festival.
The day begins at 1 p.m. at the Tom Patterson Theatre, where community members will gather to show their support and PRIDE by marching together.
The route follows Lakeside Drive, along the Avon River, leading to Upper Queen’s Park for an afternoon of festivities.
Destination Stratford may not be the organizer of the event, but they have been a steadfast supporter of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community for many years.
Executive Director Zac Gribble said his organization is a natural fit to promote it.
“We’re very supportive in the city and work with a lot of groups around our welcoming community initiative, which is a community-wide celebration of the diverse people who make up our community and visit our community.
“We are big proponents of this event.”
The festival is family-friendly, welcoming all ages to celebrate love, diversity, and inclusion.
Entertainment is available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring drag performers, dancing, acrobats and live music.
“It really gets the community together,” added Gribble. “Both allies of the Pride Festival and community members who are directly involved. It really is a delightful thing to participate in and I know the organizers would agree the more the merrier and we try to encourage more people to participate.”
The festival also has a kids zone, face painting, food trucks, an open-air yoga class, vendor market, and ally alley, where local organizations will highlight the services and supports they offer to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
