If you build it…’Field of Dreams’ grand opening next week at St. Al’s

It’s a field of dreams for St. Aloysius School.

A fully renovated and modern clay baseball field will be unveiled to the public next Thursday (June 5) at the Stratford school.

The $52,000 project is through the Jays Care Foundation Field of Dreams, which funds building, enhancing, or refurbishing local baseball diamonds to expand the game of baseball and provide a safe and inclusive space to develop life skills.

The ceremony starts at 1:45 p.m. and afterwards members of the Jays Care Foundation Team will lead students through interactive baseball stations.

The field meets U11 dimensions, and includes new covered dugouts.

The winning Field Of Dreams grant application was submitted by Grade 8 teacher Janis Antonio.

Previously, the foundation donated baseball equipment, Blue Jays fan gear, and books.

Over a decade, Jays Care has invested nearly $15 million into 163 Field Of Dreams diamonds across 10 provinces and two territories.
