Three inductees headed to St. Marys Sports Wall of Fame

The game of hockey is a common theme for three inductees into the Sports Wall of Fame in St. Marys.

The town’s recreation and leisure advisory committee has chosen former NHLer Mike Craig, Rick Fifield, a former captain of the St. Marys Lincolns and the 1962-63 Lincolns squad, the first to be crowned Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) Junior B Champions from St. Marys.

Craig played minor hockey in St. Marys, is a two-time World Junior Hockey gold medalist and played 23 seasons of professional hockey in the NHL, AHL and international leagues.

Fifield served as captain and WAS Most Valuable Player for the St. Marys Lincolns during the 1972–1973 season, playing a total of four seasons and amassing 405 points.

He was also an accomplished golfer.

The Lincolns, recognized in the team category, featured eight local players who competed together from pee wee through junior.

Located at the Pyramid Recreation Centre, the Sports Wall of Fame recognizes outstanding achievements of local community athletes, teams, and builders of sport.

The 2025 inductees will be celebrated this fall.
