Steps for Seniors raising money for accessible vehicles

Transportation is essential to everything ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services does for residents in Huron and Perth.

Executive Director Steph Ellens-Clarke said June is seniors month and a new event, open to individuals and teams, and part of their Driven to Care campaign, has a specific fundraising goal.

“This campaign this year, Steps for Seniors, is actually to help with purchasing our accessible vehicles. We have an aging fleet and we are looking to replace three vehicles.”

There is no registration fee, just show up and walk.

Organizers are hoping to raise $40,000.

ONE CARE offers tailored home and community support services to older adults and people with health challenges in Perth and Huron counties. That can include Meals on Wheels, exercise classes, adults day programs, home care and transportation.

Ellens Clark said ensuring the organization has reliable vehicles is essential to all they do.

A Steps For Seniors event is also being held in Clinton on June 14.
