Law Enforcement Torch Runs this week in Stratford, Huron

The Stratford edition of the popular Law Enforcement Torch Run is set for Tuesday.

The run starts at 10:30 a.m. at Stratford police HQ and will follow a route through downtown, ending up at Boston Pizza on Erie Street.

Entrants can run, walk, bike or ride a scooter.

Competitors including local police and Special Olympics athletes will sit down to a well-deserved lunch at the restaurant after the run.

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics, raising more than $80 million in Canada.

Huron OPP and Special Olympics athletes from that region will run together on Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m. at the Maitland River Community Church.

The run will head through Wingham ending at the south end of town.

Participants will then be transported to Blyth, Clinton, and Goderich.

After completing the final leg in Goderich participants and supporters will meet back at McGee Motors in Goderich for a celebration BBQ.
