Chat with commodity groups, enjoy beef on a bun, at community BBQ

It’s an evening of education, appreciation and food.

A free community BBQ at the Rotary Complex on Tuesday will provide a chance to meet local food producers, share a meal and learn about agriculture.

Tim Shute with ifarm said Perth County commodity groups organize a three-day educational experience for Grade 3 students, from Tuesday to Thursday, and they wanted a BBQ event for the whole community to be part of the overall experience. 

“The attraction to the whole thing is food.”

The BBQ at the Rotary Complex runs from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and includes beef on a bun, breakfast sandwiches and ice cream served by a local 4H group.

Shute said you can also chat with six different commodity groups.

“Dairy producers, beef producers, pork producers, grain farmers of Perth County, chicken farmers and egg producers.”

Everything is free but donations will go towards Perth County food banks.
