A way to give back at Stratford’s Canada Day parade

You can celebrate national pride and help fill the shelves at a local food bank.

This year’s Canada Day parade will include representatives from Stratford House of Blessing, who will collect non-perishable food items.

Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma said hunger doesn’t take the summer off and it’s a good way to continue supporting local residents that need a little extra help during a tough year.

“These are difficult times,” the mayor told MyStratfordNow.

The theme of the July 1 parade in Stratford is ‘Canada Strong’.

This parade starts at 6 p.m. at the corner of Lakeside Drive and Waterloo Street, heads  north-east from Waterloo Street to Mornington Street, and then west on McCarthy Road West before finishing at the Rotary Complex

Organizers are still looking for volunteers and you can register at the City of Stratford website.
