Emergency responders rescue child adrift on Lake Huron

A child that drifted more than 500-metres from shore was rescued on Lake Huron Monday.

Emergency responders arrived at Black’s Point Beach, south of Goderich, around the noon hour. The child drifted out from shore while playing on an inflatable ring.

Huron OPP’s marine unit and the Canadian Coast Guard responded.

The child, who was wearing a personal flotation device, was transported safely back to shore and is in good health.

OPP remind the public that when enjoying the water, to pay attention to changing conditions, including high winds, waves, and undercurrent, which can create dangerous and/or life-threatening situations.
