Stratford police assisted their Waterloo region colleagues by locating a person in emotional crisis and getting them to a hospital for mental health support.
The local police received the request for assistance at 2 a.m. Wednesday for an individual in crisis, reported to be in possession of a handgun.
A ping of the individual’s phone showed they were on the boundary between Stratford Police Service and Perth County OPP.
OPP officers helped find a vehicle in a driveway on Orr Street, shortly after 3 a.m.
Because of the firearm concern, the area was contained and Stratford police’s light armoured vehicle used to assist with making safe contact.
The individual was safely located within the residence and no firearm was located.
They were apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.
