Summer shopping extravaganza returns to downtown Stratford

Stratford’s downtown businesses will take to the streets on Saturday, July 12, for the resurrection of Summer Sidewalk Sale Day.

The event is hosted by the Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA) and will see businesses bringing their wares to the streets. BIA general manager Jamie Pritchard said there will be great savings, special offers and summer vibes along with a European feel.

“It really gives off an electric feeling as you walk down the streets. Full of people, full of merchandise, it’s almost like being in Europe in some of the towns over there.”

He added there is no better way to showcase the city’s unique downtown.

“Who doesn’t love a sidewalk sale? They didn’t have one here for quite a few years and I think this is the third one since I have been in this position. It’s a great way to get people to come downtown, look for some great deals and enjoy some refreshments on the patios.”

The BIA tent will be located at Memorial Gardens, next to Pazzo Pizzeria. Anyone spending at least $100 before taxes can enter a draw for 100 Downtown Dollars, and there will be free popcorn and a fish pond for kids.
