New HQ in a familiar building for Stratford-Perth Pride

Stratford-Perth Pride have moved into a new location at the United Way Perth Huron building.

Sydney Goodwin with the organization said it’s just a block away from their old headquarters, but they now have the first floor at 32 Erie St.

Residents can make use of drop-in hours at 3-7 on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.

“You can come in and just sit, relax, talk. We have a lot of books in our library that you can read…information pamphlets that you can take a look at.

“And if you just need to vent you can come in and vent.”

Goodwin said the recent Pride Festival in Stratford was a big success with about 1,000 people turning up to show their support and participate.

“Wonderful to see everybody in Stratford and even outside of Stratford coming here to celebrate Pride and just enjoy all of the festivities.”

The organization is continuing to build on their Proud Community Project, which educates about resources available in Stratford, Perth and Huron counties.

There is a conversation about the project Aug. 5 at Stratford Public Library and more are planned for St. Marys, Listowel, Goderich and virtually.

Goodwin said they are working with other Pride centres to create a bigger sense of community.
