Stratford Summer Music gathers momentum as 25th season rolls along

After a strong start for Stratford Summer Music, organizers are looking to continue that momentum with some upcoming performances.

Thursday marks the start of Week two of the event’s 25th season, with multiple musicians from several genres, ranging from jazz to opera.

Summer Music Artistic Director Mark Fewer said they were thrilled with opening night last Thursday.

“We had a fantastic choir, fantastic soloist, percussionist, pianist. It was just big, and I’m happy to say everything went according to my plan,” said Fewer.

“People were talking about that for days, and I was stopped on the street every day since.”

He said other highlights from include an opening show for their Jazz Series at the Revival, and the Carnival of the Animals show, which saw over 200 people show up at Stratford Perth Museum on Saturday.

This week starts with a morning coffee chat with Drew and Rebekah from the Schmaltz & Pepper, at the museum Thursday night.

Other performances include a tribute to jazz legends Stephane Grappelli and Joe Venut, and Michael Bridge Plays the Film, where Bridge will play written and improvised music while residents watch a film at the museum.

More info on these performances can be found at the Stratford Summer Music website.
