Fierce storm left a mark on parts of Perth County

Heavy rain, strong winds and large hail combined for a fierce storm that impacted parts of Perth County on Thursday night.

There are power outages throughout the county, and residents have noted some significant damages from the storm, mostly wind blowing over trees and structures.

West Region OPP reported this morning multiple hydro lines, hydro poles, and trees are down throughout West Perth, which has resulted in road closures.

Mitchell resident Deanna Bender said her power was out and a large tree fell onto her property. Bender was driving home from Stratford when the storm hit.

The Hydro One storm centre indicates power outages Friday morning in and around Mitchell, the largest impacting 335 customers. Another outage just north of the town is impacting 249 customers, while an outage west of town is impacting 125 customers.

Smaller outages are reported in north Perth impacting less than 20 customers.

Festival Hydro, covering the city of Stratford, had nothing on their outage map as of Friday at 9 a.m., though heavy rain did blanket the city on Thursday and overnight.
