Child has non-life threatening injuries after West Perth farming accident

A recent farming accident left a child injured in West Perth.

Perth County OPP say on Monday a 12-year-old was hit by a farming implement.

EMS took the boy to a local trauma centre. Injuries are non-life threatening.

Police say the child is expected to be released Tuesday, adding it’s important to be safe when using any type of machinery when children are around and to be aware of their whereabouts and surroundings.

Having basic life saving equipment on hand can also help prevent and save a life, police said.

That includes a first aid kit, tourniquet, emergency blanket, flashlight, cell phone, and personal protective equipment (eye protection, safety boots, hearing protection, etc).
