‘Equal opportunity offender’ Ron James returning to Stratford

A national comedic treasure is coming to perform again in Stratford.

Ron James entertains at the Avon Theatre next month. The show marks his first in  Stratford since performing back in January 2020 and it’s the final stop on his current  Canadian tour.

It’s a fundraiser for Stratford Arts & Culture Collective.

“They are a performance base that meets the needs of Stratford and surrounding area,  where you don’t have to be a professional to channel your artistic soul,” said James.

“This is a good thing. I guess everybody’s gotta start somewhere.”

He says while it’s been a challenge with this leg of the tour due to this year’s federal  election, he adds it was “exciting, to say the least.”

“You can’t help but have political content in your show these days, but I’d like to be an  equal opportunity offender,” said James.

“I’ll poke fun of both sides in my two-hour show.”

Along with politics, James’s other material includes other topics like tropical vacations gone  awry, climate change, and hockey gambling ads.

He hopes the show will have people feeling lighter when leaving the theatre than when  they came in.

The show is Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
