City urges drivers to be slow and careful with school starting soon

As students get ready for the return of school, Stratford drivers need to be alert and careful.

The City put up a safety reminder today, saying vehicle and pedestrian traffic will soon go up in the area due to the upcoming fall semester.

To keep people safe, the city has put up tips to follow while on the road.

The city said to stay alert around school buses and in school safety zones.

“Obey proper rules at crossing guard locations and only proceed when crossing guards and pedestrians have completely crossed the road.”

Other tips include paying attention when other vehicles in the curbside lane are stopped near a school crossing, driving slowly through school zones, and looking for signs and sticking to school zones with no parking or no stopping.
