The open-air fire ban in Perth County has officially been lifted.
The ban was first put into effect at midnight on Aug. 6 due to extreme dryness of vegetation in the region.

Fire chiefs across the county, including Stratford, say that with the recent rainfall, the ban has been lifted as of noon today.
“Burn permits can now be issued and must abide by the respective municipality’s open-air burn bylaw,” said the County Of Perth.
Monitoring of rainfall and vegetation conditions will continue.
The chiefs add if dry conditions come back, the burn ban may be implemented again.
Farmers are still asked to be careful with combining, and are encouraged to have a fire extinguisher on board large equipment.
They say if you find an uncontrolled/unattended open air fire, call 9-1-1.
With the ban lifted, fire chiefs encourage you to call your local fire department to get a burn permit, supervise all outdoor fires, and to never burn items like plastics, household garbage, and construction debris.
