Speaker series returning to St. Marys Museum

You’ll get to learn more about bridges, the Rotary Club, and more by checking out local presentations.

The St. Marys Museum Speaker Series is returning this fall for its 13th season, with presentations on different topics related to the town at the museum.

Events aim to raise money for the museum. Cost is $12 and $10 for museum members.

The first presentation is about local bridges featuring local historians Ken Telfer and Mary Smith, who will explore how the structures have shaped community and become iconic landmarks.

That event runs on Sept. 18.

The next event Oct. 23 will see Assistant Curator Emily Taylor share the history of the Rotary Club of St. Marys, with former club president Andrew Middleton to speak about the club’s current initiatives.

At the last event on Nov. 19 historians Paul King and Larry Pfaff will talk about the history of quarries. The town’s large outdoor swimming quarry was the centre of industry in the mid-1800s.

Guests are asked to pre-register as space will be limited.
