Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board has announced Deacon Dan McPhee has been appointed board chaplain for his work in the community and parishes.
According to the board, school chaplaincy is a work of pastoral ministry where team leaders provide spiritual care and support faith life for students and staff.
McPhee brings decades of experience in the area of youth, young adults, middle-aged adults, and families.
“He has a strong history of devoted service and support to individuals, families, and community,” said Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board.
The board said “Deacon Dan” is known for his compassionate and caring approach.
Work includes providing ministry to some of the youth at St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School.
Board Chair Mary Helen Van Loon said McPhee has had a big impact on the community, their schools, and parishes.
“He is a dedicated and faith-filled leader with a heart for God, our youth, and for service,” said Van Loon.
“We look forward to his guidance and input as we welcome him to our Board table as Chaplain.”
McPhee says he is honoured to serve as board chaplain, adding he’s eager to serve the board and the bishop in his new role.
The change takes effect Tuesday, Sept. 2.
